SUMMARY:Divine Liturgy-Sunday of the Holy Myrrhbearing Women with the Noble Joseph
DESCRIPTION:The Myrrh-bearing women are those women who followed the Lord\, along with His Mother. They remained with her during the time of the saving Passion\, and anointed the Lord’s body with myrrh. Joseph and Νikόdēmos asked for and received the Lord’s body from Pilate. They took it down from the Cross\, wrapped it in linen cloths and spices\, then they laid it in a tomb\, and then they placed a great stone over the entrance of the tomb…click link to read more  https://www.oca.org/saints/lives/2024/05/19/36-sunday-of-the-holy-myrrhbearing-women-with-the-noble-joseph

SUMMARY:Bright Week Divine Liturgy

SUMMARY:Vesperal Divine Liturgy of St. Basil - Great and Holy Thursday
DESCRIPTION:Two events shape the liturgy of Great and Holy Thursday: the Last Supper of Christ with His disciples\, and the betrayal of Judas. The meaning of both is in love. The Last Supper is the ultimate revelation of God’s redeeming love for man\, of love as the very essence of salvation. And the betrayal of Judas reveals that sin\, death and self-destruction are also due to love\, but to deviated and distorted love\, love directed at that which does not deserve love…to read more\, click  https://www.oca.org/saints/lives/2024/05/02/24-great-and-holy-thursday

SUMMARY:Festal Divine Liturgy - Entry of Our Lord into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday)
DESCRIPTION:Palm Sunday is the celebration of the triumphant entrance of Christ into the royal city of Jerusalem. He rode on a colt for which He Himself had sent\, and He permitted the people to hail Him publicly as a king. A large crowd met Him in a manner befitting royalty\, waving palm branches and placing their garments in His path. They greeted Him with these words: “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord\, even the King of Israel! SUMMARY:Divine Liturgy - St Mary of Egypt
DESCRIPTION:Saint Zosimas (April 4) was a monk at a certain Palestinian monastery on the outskirts of Caesarea. Having dwelt at the monastery since his childhood\, he lived there in asceticism until he reached the age of fifty-three. Then he was disturbed by the thought that he had attained perfection\, and needed no one to instruct him. “Is there a monk anywhere who can show me some form of asceticism that I have not attained? Is there anyone who has surpassed me in spiritual sobriety and deeds?”…to read more\, click  https://www.oca.org/saints/lives/2024/04/21/18-5th-sunday-of-great-lent-st-mary-of-egypt

SUMMARY:Divine Liturgy - St John Climacus (of the Ladder)
DESCRIPTION:The Fourth Sunday of Lent is dedicated to Saint John Climacus\, the author of The Ladder of Divine Ascent. In this book the Igumen of Saint Katherine’s Monastery on Mount Sinai bears witness to the great effort which is required for entry into God’s Kingdom (Matthew 10:12). The spiritual struggle of the Christian life is difficult since it is “not against flesh and blood\, but against … the rulers of the present darkness … the hosts of wickedness in heavenly places …” (Ephesians 6:12). Saint John encourages the faithful in their efforts for\, as the Lord has said\, only “he who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:13)…to read more\, click  https://www.oca.org/saints/lives/2024/04/14/16-4th-sunday-of-great-lent-st-john-climacus-of-the-ladder

DESCRIPTION:The Third Sunday of Lent is that of the Veneration of the Cross. SUMMARY:Divine Liturgy-Sunday of Meatfare of the Last Judgment
DESCRIPTION:Today’s Gospel reading is Matthew 25:31-46\, the parable of the Last Judgment. It reminds us that while trusting in Christ’s love and mercy\, we must not forget His righteous judgment when He comes again in glory. If our hearts remain hardened and unrepentant\, we should not expect the Lord to overlook our transgressions simply because He is a good and loving God. Although He does not desire the death of a sinner\, He also expects us to turn from our wickedness and live (Ezek. 33:11). This same idea is expressed in the prayer read by the priest after the penitent has confessed his or her sins (Slavic practice). SUMMARY:Divine Liturgy-Sunday of the Prodigal Son
DESCRIPTION:The Sunday after the Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee is the Sunday of the Prodigal Son. This parable of God’s forgiveness calls us to “come to ourselves” as did the prodigal son\, to see ourselves as being “in a far country” far from the Father’s house\, and to make the journey of return to God. We are given every assurance by the Master that our heavenly Father will receive us with joy and gladness. We must only “arise and go\,” confessing our self-inflicted and sinful separation from that “home” where we truly belong (Luke 15:11-24)…  from oca.org

SUMMARY:Divine Liturgy Sunday of Zacchaus
DESCRIPTION:The paschal season of the Church is preceded by the season of Great Lent\, which is also preceded by its own liturgical preparation. The first sign of the approach of Great Lent comes five Sundays before its beginning. On this Sunday the Gospel reading is about Zacchaeus the tax-collector. It tells how Christ brought salvation to the sinful man\, and how his life was changed simply because he “sought to see who Jesus was” (Luke 19:3). The desire and effort to see Jesus begins the entire movement through Lent towards Pascha. It is the first movement of salvation… to continue reading\, click:  https://www.oca.org/saints/lives/2024/02/18/1-sunday-of-zacchaeus

SUMMARY:Divine Liturgy of the Meeting of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Temple
DESCRIPTION:The Meeting of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ is described in the third Gospel (Luke 2:22-40). Forty days after His birth the Divine Child was brought to the Temple at Jerusalem to be presented to the Lord. According to the Law of Moses (Lev. 12:2-8)\, a woman who gave birth to a male child was forbidden to enter the Temple for forty days. At the end of the time of her purification\, the mother went to the Temple with the child\, to offer a young lamb\, two turtledoves\, or pigeons to the Lord as a sacrifice. The Most Holy Virgin had no need of purification\, since she had given birth to the Source of purity and sanctity. Out of humility\, however\, she fulfilled the requirements of the Law.
