It was in Heliopolis\, along with his friend Apollophonos where he witnessed the solar eclipse that occurred at the moment of the death of the Lord Jesus Christ by Crucifixion. “Either the Creator of all the world now suffers\, or this visible world is coming to an end\,”…read the rest of his story at:  https://www.oca.org/saints/lives/2021/10/03/102843-hieromartyr-dionysius-the-areopagite-bishop-of-athens

SUMMARY:Divine Liturgy
DESCRIPTION:Today we celebrate the Afterfeast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. \nThe Holy Martyrs Trophimus\, Sabbatius and Dorymedon suffered for Christ during the reign of the Roman emperor Probus (276-282). A pagan festival was being celebrated in the city of Antioch. Sacrificial offerings were brought\, the wine was poured\, and vile acts were performed. The Christians Trophimus and Sabbatius arrived in the city just as the festival was taking place\, and were saddened by this loud and indecent spectacle. They prayed that the Lord would guide the errant on the way of salvation. As they said this\, the idolaters noticed their presence. Seeing that the strangers did not worship the idols\, they arrested them and took them to the governor…read more at:https://www.oca.org/saints/lives/2021/09/19/102664-martyrs-trophimus-sabbatius-and-dorymedon-of-synnada

SUMMARY:Festal Divine Liturgy of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross
DESCRIPTION:Today is a strict fast day. \nThe Elevation of the Venerable and Life-Creating Cross of the Lord: The pagan Roman emperors tried to completely eradicate from human memory the holy places where our Lord Jesus Christ suffered and was resurrected for mankind. SUMMARY:Divine Liturgy
DESCRIPTION:This is the Leavetaking of the Nativity of the Theotokos. \nWe also commemorate the Hieromartyr Autonomus. \nThe Hieromartyr Autonomus was a bishop in Italy. During the time of the persecution against Christians under the emperor Diocletian (284-305)\, Saint Autonomus left his own country and resettled in Bithynia\, in the locality of Soreus with a man named Cornelius. SUMMARY:Festal Divine Liturgy of the Nativity of the Theotokos
DESCRIPTION:The Nativity of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever Virgin Mary: The Most Holy Virgin Mary was born at a time when people had reached such a degree of moral decay that it seemed altogether impossible to restore them. People often said that God must come into the world to restore faith and not permit the ruin of mankind. \nThe Son of God chose to take on human nature for the salvation of mankind\, and chose as His Mother the All-Pure Virgin Mary\, who alone was worthy to give birth to the Source of purity and holiness…the rest of the article can be found at: https://www.oca.org/saints/lives/2021/09/08/102541-the-nativity-of-our-most-holy-lady-the-mother-of-god-and-ever-vi

SUMMARY:Sunday of The Commemoration of the Holy Fathers of the 1st Six Ecumenical Councils.
DESCRIPTION:In the Ninth Article of the Nicea-Constantinople Symbol of Faith proclaimed by the holy Fathers of the First and Second Ecumenical Councils\, we confess our faith in “One\, Holy\, Catholic\, and Apostolic Church.” By virtue of the catholic nature of the Church\, an Ecumenical Council is the Church’s supreme authority\, and possesses the competence to resolve major questions of church life. An Ecumenical Council is comprised of archpastors and pastors of the Church\, and representatives of all the local Churches\, from every land of the “oikumene” (i.e. from all the whole inhabited world). \nThe Orthodox Church acknowledges Seven Holy Ecumenical Councils:…the rest of the article is found at oca.org.

SUMMARY:Sunday Divine Liturgy
DESCRIPTION:All Saints of Britain and Ireland are commemorated today. \nAlso today the Greatmartyr Euphemia the All-praised is commemorated. \nThe Miracle of Saint Euphemia the All-Praised: The holy Great Martyr Euphemia (September 16) suffered martyrdom in the city of Chalcedon in the year 304\, during the time of the persecution against Christians by the emperor Diocletian (284-305). One and a half centuries later\, at a time when the Christian Church had become victorious within the Roman Empire\, God deigned that Euphemia the All-Praised should again be a witness and confessor of the purity of the Orthodox teaching… the rest of her story is found at oca.org. \n

SUMMARY:Sunday of the Saints of North America-Divine Liturgy served in church
DESCRIPTION:On the second Sunday after Pentecost\, each local Orthodox Church commemorates all the saints\, known and unknown\, who have shone forth in its territory. Accordingly\, the Orthodox Church in America remembers the saints of North America on this day. \nSaints of all times\, and in every country are seen as the fulfillment of God’s promise to redeem fallen humanity. Their example encourages us to “lay aside every weight\, and the sin which so easily besets us” and to “run with patience the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1). The saints of North America also teach us how we should live\, and what we must expect to endure as Christians…the rest of the story is on oca.org \n

SUMMARY:The Feast of Pentecost-Divine Liturgy served in church
DESCRIPTION:Please contact Fr. Andrew if you would like to register to attend the Divine Liturgy. \nIn the Church’s annual liturgical cycle\, Pentecost is “the last and great day.” It is the celebration by the Church of the coming of the Holy Spirit as the end—the achievement and fulfillment—of the entire history of salvation. For the same reason\, however\, it is also the celebration of the beginning: it is the “birthday” of the Church as the presence among us of the Holy Spirit\, of the new life in Christ\, of grace\, knowledge\, adoption to God and holiness…the article continues at oca.org.

SUMMARY:Fathers of the 1st Ecumenical Council-Divine Liturgy served in church
DESCRIPTION:Please register with Fr. Andrew if you would like to attend the Divine Liturgy. \nOn the seventh Sunday of Pascha\, we commemorate the holy God-bearing Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council. \nThe Commemoration of the First Ecumenical Council has been celebrated by the Church of Christ from ancient times. The Lord Jesus Christ left the Church a great promise\, “I will build My Church\, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Mt. 16:18). Although the Church of Christ on earth will pass through difficult struggles with the Enemy of salvation\, it will emerge victorious. The holy martyrs bore witness to the truth of the Savior’s words\, enduring suffering and death for confessing Christ\, but the persecutor’s sword is shattered by the Cross of Christ…you can find the rest of the article at oca.org.

SUMMARY:Sunday of the Blind Man-Divine Liturgy served inside the church
DESCRIPTION:The miracle described in today’s Gospel (John 9:1-38) is even more remarkable than it might seem at first. Saint Basil and other Fathers tell us that this was not just a case of giving sight to a blind man born with eyes that did not function\, but to someone who had no eyes at all! The second Exapostilarion for this Sunday says\, “Along the way\, our Saviour found a man who lacked both sight and eyes…”. \nThe full story can be found at oca.org \nYou must register with Fr. Andrew to come to the Liturgy.

SUMMARY:Liturgy of the Sunday of the Paralytic- served outside
DESCRIPTION:On this day the Church remembers the man who lay by the Sheep’s Pool in Jerusalem for thirty-eight years. He was waiting for someone to put him into the pool. The first one to enter the pool after an angel troubled the water would be healed of his infirmities.  Someone always entered the pool before him. \nSeeing the man\, the Lord felt compassion for him and healed him. \nThe Kontakion for this Fourth Sunday of Pascha asks Christ to raise up our souls\, “paralyzed by sins and thoughtless acts”.
