Pan-Orthodox Youth Retreat to be held in Saskatoon, SK on May 16-19, 2025
REMINDER:
The registration for the Orthodox Youth Retreat in Saskatoon will be closing on May 1, that’s this Tuesday. The retreat is less than a month away, on the May Long weekend of May 16-19. We already have enough young adults to act as cabin leaders as well as cooks and helpers for the retreat but there is still some room for more youth registrations.
Many of the St. Aidan parish youth will be attending the retreat again this year to meet up with friends from across Western Canada and to grow together in faith.
With Father Herman Field’s blessing, from St. Vincent of Lerins Antiochian Orthodox Church in Saskatoon, registration has opened for the 4th Annual Pan Orthodox Youth Retreat in Saskatoon, SK !
You will find all the information about the camp and registration on the website: www.orthodoxyouthretreat.com
I urge you to support this initiative which has been bringing together over 80 youth from across BC, AB, SK and MB. As a result of the success of the Saskatchewan retreats, a group in Calgary have now started a youth retreat in Alberta in the fall on the youth’s request – they are literally begging to meet together more frequently! These youth are the future of our parishes and it is integral that their home parishes support and encourage them. It is exciting to see the youth becoming engaged in their faith and bringing this back to their homes. Please assist the momentum of this retreat by promoting this event in your parish.
Ways you can help:
- Print PDF and hang up posters for the youth retreat (attached)
- Putting the information in the bulletin
- Announcing the event after liturgy
- Shoulder tapping youth to encourage and ask if they have registered
- Helping to organize rides and possibly sponsoring the gas money
- Financial support if asked from individuals in financial need
- Shoulder tapping young adults to act as camp counselors. The retreat is only able to happen to the extent that we have enough supervision and hands on deck in the cabins. If you know of interested young adults please have them email me at: [email protected]
- Praying for the youth and organizers of the retreat as they and that the necessary volunteers are found
The speaker for this year’s retreat will be Mother Melania, the Abbess of Holy Assumption Monastery in Calistoga, CA.
