Here is the service schedule for the next few days:
Friday at 9am is Royal Hours. This is the day we make our best fasting effort of the year.
-Friday at 4pm is the Vespers of Unnailing where we take Christ down from the Cross and place him in the tomb. It is the first half of our Holy Friday Vigil. We take a short break before Matins.
-Friday at 6pm is Matins with Lamentations at the tomb of Christ (the second half of our Holy Friday Vigil). At the end of this service we do a procession once around the Church, then we begin reading the Psalms at the tomb through the night (if you want a share in this, the sign-up sheet is in the narthex).
-Saturday at 9am is the Vesperal Liturgy that is the transition from Holy Week to the Resurrection. Fifteen Old Testament readings and the colour change from dark to light happens in this service.
-Saturday at 10:30pm is the beginning of the full Paschal service: Nocturns, Matins, and Liturgy. We do another procession (three times around now). We hear the beautiful Paschal homily of Saint John Chrysostom. After this, we bless the Pascha baskets and enjoy the Radiant Feast.
-Sunday morning THERE IS NO LITURGY at the usual time… because we already did it at 1am! Come instead for the short Paschal Vespers service at 2pm followed by the parish and community barbecue. This is the BEST service to bring anybody new to Orthodoxy.
