Cancelling next week’s Wednesday (April 15) bright week service
We are most blessed to have two priests serving here at St. Aidan and this becomes very evident when one has to step back for a bit, and the other is able to continue on with the glorious Holy Week services we all look forward to as the highlight of the Orthodox Church year! I am most grateful for your prayers and pray for God’s mercy. I am most grateful to Fr. Edward that he is able to keep us walking with Christ and the apostles through to the glorious resurrection of Christ and Pascha!
The only change in the scheduled services will be to cancel the Bright week Wednesday service.
I would encourage you to take in as many of these special, once a year services as possible, starting with at least one of the 3 scheduled 6:00 pm Bridegroom Matins services. I realize it takes planning and great effort to pull this off and so I am sending you a Youtube video of the 3 services to enter into if you can’t make it to the church.

Join us tomorrow, Wed. April 8; 6:00pm – 7:30pm, Pre-sanctified Liturgy
All during Great Lent on Wed. evenings we are blessed to serve the beautiful service of pre-sanctified Liturgy. This Wednesday evening is the last chance to come to one of these special services before next Great lent. On Sunday an extra lamb is prepared and sanctified at the Sunday Liturgy service. There is therefore no Anaphora – consecration of the Lamb section in the service so…“Pre-sanctified.” A most reverent and precious service.
Some Notes regarding the next few days:
1. I will be available for some confessions by appointment (250-420-1582) and hope to be back at the Church soon. Fr. Edward also has some availability.
2. There will be a sign-up sheet at the back of the Narthex (porch entrance) for those wishing to claim a 1 hr. or more reading spot before the tomb of Christ on Friday night or Saturday day.
3. Bring flowers as we decorate the tomb with many flowers, traditionally reds and whites, but yellow and other flowers are fine. Many roses for the petal plucking baskets, perhaps some larger Lillies or equivalent (please pluck the pollen laden stamens off the Lilies for allergy control)
4. Blessing of Paschal baskets will be right after the Paschal Liturgy downstairs at about 2:00am. For basket prep help grab any seasoned Orthodox parishioner.
6. Any questions about the pot luck feast on Sunday can be directed to the kitchen elves; Joanna, Matka Trisha, Meskerem, Ellen et al.
7. Please consider bringing treats for Sunday’s easter egg hunt and dropping them off at the church. Purchase some wrapped chocolate or easter candy as the sales go fast.
I’m available by phone should you have any questions…………..love in Christ……fr. Andrew….250-420-1582
