Prayer for Peace
It’s been four years since we posted this when the war in Ukraine began.
We pray that this is the year it ends.
Prayer for Peace: composed in 1858 by Ilia Chavchavadze, great Georgian poet and statesman (1837 – 1907)
I am kneeling and pitied before You!
I ask neither wealth nor glory,
not wanting to offend the Holy Prayer.
Instead, I want my soul to be lit up by the sky,
and my heart lights up with the love sent by You!
And also for the enemies who try to pierce my heart with a dart,
I ask you: “Forgive them, Lord, because they do not know what they do.” (x2)
