Happy Names Day!

Happy Names Day to one of our young women!

St. Emilia, was called ‘Mother of Saints’ because 5 of her children went on to become saints.

After the children were grown and gone she founded a monastery for liberated female slaves with her eldest daughter.

As she neared the end of her life, her son came to help care for her. Before she committed her soul to Heaven she asked the Lord to let His holiness descend on her gifts of the first fruit (her first-born daughter, Macrina) and the tithe (her youngest son, Peter) of her womb to the Lord. Along with St. Macrina and St. Peter of Sebaste, there are also St. Gregory of Nyssa, St. Theosebia, a deaconess and St. Basil the Great, who is also commemorated today.
