Schedule Update

Last night, we ended the Dormition fast after our festal Vespers service with Litiya. We still had some food prep to finish making the meals for this weekend’s family retreat at Riondel so thank you to those who were able to spare an hour or two after Vespers to help!

Today at 10:30am we will celebrate the festal Divine Liturgy for Dormition at 10:30 and then join together at Denny’s for lunch if you can make it.

After the Ascension of the Lord, the Mother of God remained in the care of the Apostle John the Theologian, and during his journeys She lived at the home of his parents, near the Mount of Olives. She was a source of consolation and edification both for the Apostles and for all the believers. Like the Apostles, She helped plant and strengthen the Christian Church by Her presence, Her discourse and Her prayers.

In giving birth you preserved your virginity, / in falling asleep you did not forsake the world, O Theotokos. / You were translated to life, O Mother of Life, / and by your prayers, you deliver our souls from death. – Troparion, Tone 1
