Matushka Oleksa Fundraiser
There has been a GoFundMe set up for the newly widowed Matushka Xenia Oleksa.
Archpriest Michael Oleksa fell asleep in the Lord on November 29, 2023. He was a popular author and speaker, and spent most of his life serving the Church in Alaska and advocating for the Native populations there. He was a generous, kind, and caring person who will be forever remembered for his mentoring, teaching, and ministry. His son writes, “Dad gave his whole life to God and often didn’t ask for any payment from the church. I once asked, ‘How much have you made in 40 years as a priest?’ He said, ‘Maybe $40,000 in all those 40 years.”
Father Michael was also married to a remarkable woman. Matushka Xenia supported him in his church activities and travels, and at the same time she maintained her native Alaskan lifestyle, which included close ties to the family of Saint Olga of Alaska. As a result of her family’s complete dedication to the church, Matushka Xenia needs financial help. She has bills to meet for housing, utilities, and service on some debt. If you are in a position to make a contribution of any amount, a friend named Martina Gil has set up a GoFundMe page. All proceeds will go to help cover her financial needs: Fundraiser for John Oleksa by Martina Gil : In Loving Memory of Father Michael Oleksa (gofundme.com)
