Holy Week and Paschal Services for St. Aidan’s – 2023
Lazarus Saturday Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom
Tomorrow, Saturday April 8 – 9:30 am – 11:30am , at the Hall; 120 7th Ave. S. ½ block down the street and across the street from the church.
While not officially part of Holy Week, Our journey to Christ’s passion and resurrection starts in earnest on Lazarus Saturday. Christ is on His way to go to His voluntary death on the cross and preparing His apostles, telling them that this is why He came, to encounter death and defeat it for all of mankind. On His way to Jerusalem He stops at the grave of His friend Lazarus who has been dead for 4 days, and by now should have started seriously decomposing, and Christ raises him from the dead! All of Jerusalem and those many thousands gathered for the feast of Passover hear of this and marvel. We join them in celebrating this great victory over our greatest enemy, death. Tomorrow as He enters into Jerusalem, we join with the crowds waving Psalms (and pussywillows) saying Hosana (God save me!)
